We ‘re making way for another ginormous kiln in our Saltwater kiln room, and so sadly it’s time to say goodbye to our beloved Black Betty.
A fabulous kiln for the at home / semi professional potter. Her internal chamber is cheekily deceiving and fits so much work. Recently serviced and all coils replaced. Some damage to the bricks when she was recoiled, and some rust damage from heat on the exterior but she still fires like a dream. These kilns generally only fire up to 1000 degrees (bisque) however we have had this one upgraded to fire to cone 6 (glaze firing).
The best thing about this lovely lady is she doesn’t require 2 or 3 phase - her plug is 16 amp (single phase) which is far cheaper and easier to install.
