DONT SWIM PAST THE BLUE LINE, 2024
NM/A
An unconventional approach to art. Large scale works realising the movement and consciousness the ocean gifts us. Bringing that awareness and excitement and concentrating it on canvas. To be shared and embodied in homes and workspaces all over the world.
Part of a collection of 11 oil and resin artworks, ‘Don’t go past the blue line’ was inspired by the rugged, raw landscapes of the Antarctic.
My husband just turned 40, and to celebrate this huge milestone I had all his old VHS tapes from his teens and 20s converted to digital. His family history is a unique one - his father and brother did, and still do sail documentarians and small groups of explorers to South Georgia and the Antarctic. My partner Daniel spent a lot of time filming and photographing the sub arctic wildlife, but when we watched the footage, it was actually the waters and the landscapes in the background that really inspired me. The cool green ice and deep blue moving water.
Each canvas panel has been custom built in Melbourne and painted using a range of etching and oiling techniques.
